INTERPEDE is a civic-transparency platform that publishes public government records. We are committed to your privacy. This policy explains what information we do and do not collect, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

2. What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect personal information from visitors. Specifically, we do not:

• Require user accounts or registrations.
• Use analytics tracking (including Google Analytics or similar services).
• Use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking scripts.
• Collect or store visitor IP addresses beyond transient server logs.
• Sell or share visitor data with third parties.

3. Server Logs

Our hosting infrastructure and Content Delivery Network (Cloudflare) may automatically log standard server request information (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) for the purposes of security, abuse prevention, and service stability. These logs are retained for a limited period and are not associated with personal identities. Cloudflare may process this data as a data processor on our behalf in accordance with its privacy policy.

4. Cookies

The public site does not set any cookies. A session cookie is used solely for the Wagtail administrative interface, which is not accessible to the general public. No cookies are set for visitors browsing public data pages.

5. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on the following third-party infrastructure:

• Cloudflare — Content Delivery Network and DDoS protection. Cloudflare may process request metadata as described in its privacy policy.
• Hosting provider — Server infrastructure for the Django application and PostgreSQL database.

No third-party analytics, advertising, or social-media tracking services are used.

6. Data Sourced from Public Records

All government data displayed on this site is sourced from public records and official government APIs, including Congress.gov, the Federal Register, and the FEC openFEC API. This data pertains to public officials and matters of public concern; it does not contain visitor personal information. Each data record includes source attribution linking back to the original government source.

7. Data Retention

Server logs are retained for a period determined by operational and security needs (typically 30–90 days) and then automatically purged. No long-term visitor data is stored.

8. Your Rights

While INTERPEDE is unlikely to be subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or similar state privacy laws due to its small scale and lack of personal data collection, we respect privacy rights as a matter of principle. Because we do not collect personal information, there is no personal data to access, delete, or port. If you believe we have inadvertently collected your personal data, please contact us.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. As we do not collect personal information from any visitor, this policy applies equally to all ages.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the Service and its infrastructure. Administrative access is restricted and authenticated. The Service runs behind a CDN and firewall. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
