Terms of Service
Last updated: August 31, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the INTERPEDE website ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please discontinue use of the Service.
2. Description of Service
INTERPEDE ("Monitor and Protect") is a nonpartisan civic-transparency platform that aggregates and displays public government records — including legislation, votes, executive actions, campaign finance data, and judicial opinions — sourced from official government APIs and public records. The Service does not require user accounts and does not collect personal information from visitors.
3. Data Accuracy Disclaimer
All data displayed on this site is sourced from public government APIs, including Congress.gov (Library of Congress), the Federal Register, and the Federal Election Commission (openFEC API). While we make good-faith efforts to present this data accurately, it may contain errors, omissions, or delays. The information provided here is for general informational purposes only and is not an official government record. We encourage you to verify any information against the original government source, which is cited on each data page.
4. No Government Endorsement
INTERPEDE is an independent, nonpartisan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any government agency, including the Library of Congress, Congress.gov, the Federal Register, the Federal Election Commission, the U.S. Government Publishing Office, or any other federal, state, or local entity. All government data is republished from public sources under their respective terms.
5. Intellectual Property
Most government works published on this site are in the public domain pursuant to 17 U.S.C. § 105, including bill text, Federal Register documents, vote records, and FEC data. Where third-party data sources require attribution (e.g., the openFEC API), such attribution is provided on the relevant pages. The INTERPEDE name, logo, site design, and editorial content (including guides) are property of INTERPEDE unless otherwise noted.
6. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including but not limited to: attempting to disrupt or compromise site infrastructure, using automated tools to overload the Service, or republishing data in a manner that violates the terms of the underlying government data sources. FEC data may not be used for AI/ML training as prohibited by the openFEC API terms.
7. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, INTERPEDE shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless INTERPEDE and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
9. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the appropriate courts located in Florida.
